Clarity was built by two people who lost a deal because of a bad note.
Clarity is an AI-powered note-taking app that automatically organizes, summarizes, and surfaces your notes when you need them most. The company was founded in 2022 and now serves 2,400+ teams across knowledge work, research, and software development.

Mission
Clarity exists to ensure that no important idea, decision, or commitment is ever lost because the tool it was written in couldn't find it when it mattered.
Founding story
In the fall of 2021, Daniel Park and Sofia Chen were working on a separate startup — a workflow automation tool for small businesses. After six months of work and three promising enterprise pilots, they lost a $200,000 deal because of a missed follow-up. The follow-up itself was buried in a 94-page Google Doc of meeting notes from a call that had happened 47 days earlier.
The client had specifically asked about integration with their existing CRM. Daniel had written the question down during the call. Sofia had written a technical answer in a separate doc. Neither note was findable when the client followed up three weeks later. The deal closed with a competitor two days after the missed reply.
Both founders described the problem the same way: not that notes were missing, but that notes were unfindable. Daniel and Sofia shut down their first company in January 2022 and spent four months building the first version of Clarity — specifically to solve the retrieval problem, not the capture problem.
Clarity launched in beta in May 2022 with 40 teams. It reached 500 teams by September 2022, 1,000 by March 2023, and 2,400 by January 2026. Every feature in Clarity was added in response to a specific failure mode reported by a real user — not from a product roadmap built in a vacuum.

How we work
Specific over vague
Every product decision at Clarity starts with a specific failure case reported by a real user. We do not ship features based on assumptions about what might be useful.
Outcomes over features
We measure product quality by hours saved per user per week, not by the number of features shipped. Every feature added to Clarity must reduce the time between capturing a note and acting on it.
Retrieval over capture
Most note-taking tools optimize for how easy it is to write a note. Clarity optimizes for how fast you can find it 47 days later. That distinction drives every architecture and design decision we make.
